WeDecide First Workshop
Workshop on Women Health and Menopause
I am Nelly Bencomo from the CS Department. Currently, I lead the project EPSRC IAA Project weDecide: Clinical Tool for Shared Decision-Making for Treatment of Menopause Symptoms (Jan 2024 – Jan 2025)
Members:
- Jennifer HORROCKS MBBS, PGCertClinEd, MRCGP GP and Menopause Specialist, BAY MEDICAL GROUP (in Morecambe).
- Dorothy MONEKOSO (Digital Health)
- Huma SAMIN ( decision-making under uncertainty with the human in the loop).
We have partial results to share (we are also planning a research proposal as a sequel with colleagues in KCL).
Part of the goal is to search for further collaboration at Durham based on the partial results of weDecide.
While doing so, I talked with Jane MACNAUGHTON and then with Barbara BECHTER and identified a group of diverse researchers to exchange thoughts, discuss, and explore further collaborations.
I met Barbara with the Menopause expert Jen Horrocks and Huma last week. My experience working with Jen in the previous year has been enriching.
Based on the initial conversations, we are planning a meeting in the first part of September to explore opportunities to spin off the project EPSRC IAA Project weDecide: Clinical Tool for Shared Decision-Making for Treatment of Menopause Symptoms (Jan 2024 – Jan 2025) (https://aihs.webspace.durham.ac.uk/wedecide/)
The idea is to meet from 1-4:30 with a light lunch included (Suzi has kindly offered her help to find a Room and with the admin of the meeting).
Everyone can give a short presentation about their research interests. Jen and weDecide will kick off the first two presentations. After we can discuss about how to trigger further collaborations (papers, research proposals, PhD students supervision, INSERT_YOUR_OWN_IDEA_HERE)
I hope you are interested. This day was decided based on a poll.
Also, World Menopause Day is on the 18th of October. I have temporarily booked Jen for that day to bring her to talk about the topic in a meeting/lecture/Cafe that should include more people (and would be more about dissemination, creation of local impact and networking at a larger scale). The more we explore the topic, the more we understand that there is so much more to do.
With warm regards,
Nelly
